Let's get to know me
I am from Melbourne, Australia. Depending on where you’re from this could mean that I use weird spelling
I am married to a great gorgeous woman, who drives me to be the best I can be
As a kid I didn’t like tomato. Now I feel like I have to maintain this stance, to justify the position I took a kid
I ride a scooter. Buying one was one of the best decisions I’ve made. Apparently some people think it’s a bit ‘girlish’. However I haven’t heard this directly, as I’m too busy busting through traffic jams, paying peanuts for fuel, parking for free ANYWHERE and enjoying my commute
There was a period between the ages of 8-10, when I ate a tablespoon of icecream first thing in the morning. Most of the time it was Choc Chip
I don’t place a ‘consider the environment before printing’ message at the bottom of my emails. It’s ironic, but I’ve often found that this line is often the tipping point which forces another page to be printed
During year five assembly, I threw up on my teacher
I am a massive Bob Dylan fan. That doesn’t mean I love every one of his songs. It means that I love a lot of them. I’ve heard he dismisses his song writing, saying his songs aren’t about anything in particular – but this is just to deflect inquisitive journalists. His songs are great and the feeling he sings them with are on the money. Ben Folds is also great. My favourite song is by Tim Minchin. It’s called White Wine in the Sun. Genius. You can hear it below.
I didn’t mind school. I guess you could say I was obedient and did my best to stay out of trouble. I was neither smart or stupid. I just kinda coasted around average for most subjects. I did find that I was very good at making jokes, but too shy to say them out loud. I think I had a big fear of detention. In hindsight detention was nothing, but the fear it drove was everything. A great lesson in perception vs reality
I love computer and console games. Especially two player cooperative games
If I desperately need to do something and someone is blocking me, I’ll agree with them to diffuse the situation, then find a way to go around them
Growing up I loved teenage mutant ninja turtles. Raphael was my favourite. I even had a full set of the trading cards – one of only two full sets in my school! My wife tells me that she had a full set as well. Aren’t we a perfect match
If it was left up to me, I wouldn’t make the bed
I can’t stand people who leave phone messages without detail. Why should I call you back? What information should I have ready? Let’s all waste some more time playing phone tag :S
Just for fun I taught myself to play the guitar about 8 years ago. I then taught myself to play the keyboard. I also read up on music theory. The result is I’m a mediocre musician
I did marketing at university. I didn’t really understand the first or second year. I learnt a lot in my industry based learning year. Come my final year, everything seemed to click and I started to ‘get it’. Although looking back now, I still had so much to learn when leaving university. Small business owners would probably learn more about marketing in their first year of business than fresh university students do in the first 2.5 years of their degree. Currently I have found that I learn more through reading than any other medium
I think I am genetically inclined to be an extrovert, however I was brought up to be an introvert. This clash of genetics vs environment can make me rather different around different people
I’m not good with faces. I’m ok at names though
My favourite website is the urban legends website snopes. It has been since 1997. I visit it at least once a week. My second favourite website is Postsecret
I am a fan of Yahoo Answers. Every few weeks I logon and have a go. Mostly I offer sincere advice, although sometimes I do go for the funny answer, especially around irrepressible questions such as ‘How can I make $50 a week for free?’
